Kovy sweepstakes

As per fsn kovalchuk is going to new jersey. I dunno about this one, trading away internal talent doesn't seem very new jerseyish nor does kovy to me play like a devil at all.

I'm not sure if it's credible but that's what is being said I'll update as I hear stuff.

What I know now is:
- he is going to be traded to an eastern team.
- teams in the race are: new jersey, Washington, Philly and maybe the habs

confirmed as a done deal, kovy to new jersey... I dunno man sure he will be a great addition but I think he would have been a better fit elsewhere,

Johnny oduya, Nicklas bergfors, Mattias Tedenby, 1st round pick.

Final thought. Atlanta got robbed, new jersey brought in a player that doesn't fit their system.

As per bob mackenzie, the prospect is cormier and not tedenby.

Hopefully the last update as the deal trickles in. The devils will get kovy AND Anssi Salmela.

Why did Atlanta agree to this deal?

Perfect for Canada....
Lets have Kovy practice on Brodeur everyday until the Olympics....Good Idea
I know it could work the other way, Brodeur sees him everyday too, but Marty has a book of all the guys in the league and is likely the smartest goalie in the league when it comes to player tendencies.
He prolly has a novel on Kovy. Seeing him in practice everyday won't change anything.
This trade makes no sense for New Jersey
He doesn't fit into their style of game or with their francise
Are they gonna try to re-sign him?
I hope they talked to him about that before they pulled the trigger.
Thats alot to give up for a rental player
The only other reason I see them making this deal is to keep him away from other teams that are just missing that sniper....like Boston....to push them over the top and could cause problems for NJ in the playoffs

Nj has been slumming the last 15 games, this trade was more than likely ment to spark the team and create some offense. Parise can't do all the work up front.

Kovy as of his previous playing experience does not play the "New Jersey style." The Devils have a solid coaching staff and they have proven for over a decade that their style of play works effectively and wins champsionships and playoff series. I believe that Kovy will be able to play his style and still fit into their system, players like Gomez and Parise, you may not think looking at them pre-Devils, that they would play this defensive style effectively, but they do. Also, Kovy gives the devils a primary scoring attack that the devils will need in the playoffs this season, with a superstar goaltender (please do not make "Brodeur sucks!!!" comments, this is a Kovy thread) atleast 3 solid scoring forwards, solid defense, and a great winning system. I feel the Devs are a real threat in for a cup this season, even with the great talent throughout the league.
