sticks

Postby Richharris55 on Sat Mar 06, 2010 11:03 am

Hey everyone, What sticks are guys using. I really like my Bauer X:40 compasite. I would like to drop $300 on the Carey Price Warrior compasite but I'm just nervous of it breaking quickly. My favoutite stick ever was in about 2006 Osgood Itech, The closest I've come to finding something the same as it is the SWD Extra thin but it broke on me 3rd time out (SR AA hockey in Ontario) while playing the puck. Any thoughts.

Composites are an utter waste of money. I've had them break just from hard shots. I will never buy one again.

I've been super happy with RBK Premier II 6K sticks. Foam Core, Wood combo. Durable, and light.

We're goalies, we don't shoot to score. There is no point in spending that kind of money on a stick.

Yah Jase_33. I agree about not shooting to score. The X:40 composite was on sale from 130 to $99 so I thought I would try it. Juicy rebounds! I do like the RBK sticks I just broke one after almost 2 seasons. Durable. the SWD 9930 was usually my choice. I'll try a couple more then see what I like

My first 2 sticks were Koho Revolutions. One I got when I started in net at Big 5 that lasted me about 8 years, then I got another one at Sports Authority that lasted me about 1.5 to 2 years that just broke 2 weeks ago. On Friday though I received my new Sher-wood Pro Series 5 sticks (Marc Andre-Fleury pattern) from Simmons. Get to take em out on Wednesday and looking forward to it.

My favourite stick i ever used was a tps x-lite in lundvist curve (any of the tps wood stick really, very good sticks. They rot at the heel before they break usual), i lloved how it felt to play with. Unfortunatley they're extinct now :(.
Followed closely by the Itech GSpro in Fernandez curve, simply for playing the puck. Not a lot of lift from the curve as far as clearing goes but i could pick people out on the far blue line like it was nothing. VERY flexy though and not that durable i went through 3 of them in about 2.5 - 3 months :(

Now I'm using Sherwood 9950s, mainly because their durability is fairly good. It took me over a year to retire the practise stick of a pair that i got. Very good sticks i's highly recommend them

9950 is what I nmeant, not 9930. They are the best combo of weight/durability/price. The Itechs were n ot durable but great for playing the puck, very flexy.

I have used brodeur curves for the past 10 or so years from heaton to ccm to rbk (yet to get a sherwood), I tried a lalime a few years ago and it just had too much curve for me. i like to put my shots only a foot or so off the ice if im throwin a saucer pass for the most part i care more about a hard crisp pass than a high dump.

Just got my Sherwood Pro 5 from Simmons (M.A.F. pattern). Getting my first floor time in with it in about an hour or so. Feels pretty good in my hand and the paddle is 2 in. longer than my last stick. We'll see how it goes.
